At Ambay Plastic Surgery, we have successfully treated patients who have tried diet and exercise and have not achieved their desired body silhouette. In addition to simple weight gain, the problem is that fat deposits genetically in predetermined locations. Our patients often say “when I gain weight it goes to my thighs, like my mother”. Liposuction works by suctioning out the excess fat cells from the targeted treatment area and then blending that to improve the body’s silhouette. It is minimally invasive, and based on your individual preferences, it can be performed awake, in a twilight sleep or under general anesthesia in our onsite, state-of-the-art surgery center.
What can liposuction do for you?
Generally speaking, the ideal candidates for liposuction in the Tampa area are the following:
Removal of fat from liposuction can cause pain and discomfort that is well managed with pain medication for a few days. Swelling, bruising and numbness of the skin are also common and subside gradually over the first week.
Dr. Ambay will place a compression garment which will be worn for 6 weeks to help with swelling and to guide the shape of the body as it takes on its new silhouette. In very rare circumstances, temporary drains are placed for 3-5 days to remove excess fluid that can cause an infection. Your safety is our #1 concern.
It is important to follow Dr. Ambay’s instructions which are discussed at the initial consultation, at the pre-operative appointment and after surgery.
